I obtained my B.A. from the University of Texas with Highest Honors and Special Honors in Psychology; I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  I obtained my M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Denver.  I was an Intern at Baylor College of Medicine and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Texas Children’s Hospital.
 
I am a Licensed Psychologist and Health Services Provider in the State of North Carolina. My private practice is in a secluded residential setting in Charlotte, where I help adolescents and adults achieve greater internal balance and happier, healthier relationships. I have special interests in working with gender-variant, lesbian, gay, and bisexual people and their families, and with individuals in alternative lifestyles. I serve on the advisory board of the University of North Carolina Center for Professional and Applied Ethics and on the boards of directors of Planned Parenthood Health Systems, Inc., and of the Freedom Center for Social Justice. I teach part-time on the faculties of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Queens University.
 
I am a past supervising psychologist for United Family Services of Charlotte, and I am a past president of the board of directors of Time Out Youth, a support, education, and advocacy organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth.  I have been a volunteer consultant for Junior Achievement and a volunteer counselor for Camp Care, the Special Olympics, and the Easter Seals Foundation.
 
I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the North Carolina Psychological Association, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, and the International Foundation for Gender Education.
